TOURNAMENT RULES
SUMMER SIZZLE SOCCER TOURNAMENT 2007
REGISTRATION: TEAM ROSTERS Team roosters are limited to the following number of players: U11 through U19 (11V11) Eighteen (18) players U9 and U10 - (6V6) Ten (10) players U7 and U8 - (4V4) Eight (8) players A maximum of three (3) guest players. A player may play on only one (1) team in the tournament. An official roster must accompany the application. A final team roster signed by the club or association registrar must be submitted at check-in if there are any changes. An approved travel permit must be presented at check in for non-STYSA teams. All teams and players must be USSF registered and must have insurance coverage. MEDICAL RELEASE FORMS Medical release forms must be presented for all players at the time of check-in (STYSA has changed the rules and a Notary is not required). The wearing of hard casts, whether padded or not, will not be permitted at any time. PLAYER ID CARDS All teams are required to present a laminated 00 / 01 player card for each player with a picture of the player at the time of check-in. Players without a player ID card will not be allowed to play. Player ID cards must be available for inspection by tournament officials at the site of each game. LAWS OF THE GAME AS MODIFIED FIFA laws shall apply as noted as modified: Number of players is U7 & U8 Four aside, U9 & U10 6 Six aside, U11 - U19 Eleven aside. Minimum number of players required to start a game: U7 & U8 - Five, U9 & U10 - Six, U11 - U19 - Seven. Substitutions with referee's permission. Uniforms: All players on a team shall wear uniquely different numbered jerseys. Each team must have an alternate jersey or equivalent in case of color conflict. First team listed on the schedule is home team and must change jerseys if deemed necessary by the referee. GAME SCHEDULES All schedules are final as published. No changes will be permitted. Teams must be at game site (field) 15 minutes before scheduled game time and be ready for inspection by the referee. Games must start at the scheduled time; no warm up on the fields will be permitted. TOURNAMENT GAME FORMAT Playing Times (MINI GAMES, ROUND ROBIN FORMAT) U-19 to U-11: 11 V 11, 25 minute halves Regulation length Semi Finals. U-10 to U-09: 6 V 6, 20 minute halves Regulation length Semi Finals. U-07 to U-08: 4 V 4, 8 minute quarters No Playoffs. SCORING SYSTEM Mini-game scoring is 6 points for a win, 3 points for a tie, 1 point for a shut out, and 1 point per goal scored up to a maximum of 3 goals. A forfeit counts as 10 points. 0-0 tie counts as 4 points for each team. Maximum points per Mini-Game is 10 points. One (1) point will be deducted for each red card or every (3) yellow cards. ADVANCEMENT No advancement U6 through U8. Team with the most points accumulated in each bracket advances to next round (semi-finals or finals). Teams that forfeit a round robin game will not advance. Some divisions may advance 2nd place teams in brackets or wild card teams. Wild card teams are determined on the basis of the highest number of points after bracket winners. Tie-breaker rules apply. The tournament committee will determine ladder seeding. PLAY-OFF GAMES Playing time will be regulation times. Tie-breakers: Semi-Finals: FIFA penalty kicks (no overtimes). Finals: Two regulation overtime halves, then FIFA penalty kicks if necessary. TIE-BREAKER RULES Results of head to head competition. Goal difference - goals scored minus goals allowed (+/-) (up to a maximum of three goals per game). Results of least goals scored against. FIFA penalty kicks or coin flip at the discretion of the tournament committee. REPORTING SCORES Winning team coach is responsible for turning in game cards. If game ends in tie home field coach is responsible for turn in of card. Card must be turned in within 30 minutes after game ends. SPORTSMANSHIP/DISCIPLINE All players, coaches and spectators are expected to show good sportsmanship at all times. Failure to do so may lead to the disqualification of the team from the tournament. Coaches are responsible for the conduct of the team and their supporters. Teams with coaches assemble opposite side of spectators. DISCIPLINE POINTS RED CARD A player or coach receiving a red card must sit out the rest of that game and the next actually played game. A second red card to the same person results in that person being expelled from the tournament. YELLOW CARD A person receiving two (2) yellow card in the same game will sit out the rest of that game and the next actually played game. A person accumulating three (3) yellow cards is suspended for the next actually played game. EXCESSIVE POINTS ANY TEAM ACCUMULATING MORE THAT 21 PENALTY POINTS WILL BE REVIEWED BY THE TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE!! Red card 9 points A player receiving two (2) yellow cards in one (1) game 9 points Yellow card 3 points REFEREES In case of referee assault, team shall be disqualified. Referees are required to report all disciplinary actions. All discipline points will be reported to the home association of the official Post Tournament Report. Referee decisions are final. No protests are allowed. The tournament committee has final say on all matters relating to the tournament. Participation awards will be presented to all U6, U7, and U8 players. Each player and coach will receive a participation patch or equivalent. RAINOUT POLICY In the event of a total tournament rainout, each entry will receive a partial refund equal to that teams entry fee less an administrative fee. In the event of a partial rainout, games will be rescheduled when possible, within tournament time restraints. First and second place teams will be determined based on games completed.
